Richmond’s YouTube History

Hey guys, Ryan (TheRyanLamont) here with the first YouTube History post from Richmond (rrichiee1990). In Richmond’s video he talks of how he began on YouTube and his journey that lead to him discovering what what kind of videos he liked to make, which turned out to be “whatever it is [he] feels like”. So be sure to watch this video to gain an insight into Richmond’s YouTube History, and comment on the video too!

So hopefully Richmond’s video has inspired some of you to vlog/blog about your own YouTube history. I know that some other NZYT’ers are currently working on some posts/videos for the site, which is very exciting. I’m keen to involve the community more in this blog, so I hope to see more submissions from you guys, whether it be YouTube Histories, Tips&Tricks or whatever.

Thanks for reading and watching guys!

NZYT Collab update – All the clips are in!

Hey guys, Ryan (TheRyanLamont) here with a wee update on the first NZYT collab of the year. Now as you may remember, the deadline for entries to be sent in by was January 19th, but a few of us were a tad late at getting them in. Namely me, since I only sent a link to my uploaded video the other day. Sorry about that guys! But now all the clips from everyone are finally in! Hurray!

Now don’t expect the video too soon, since Andrew (Strugsnotdrugs) is currently on his awesome adventure, and enjoying that experience is of course the priority. I emailed Andrew the other day and he said that he would be working on a travel vlog soon, which is awesome. So I assume the NZYT collab will be edited sometime after that. So as soon as I hear word of the collab video being uploaded I’ll post it up here on the site for you all to see.

Thanks to all the eager NZYT’ers who participated in this collab. It’s really great seeing the NZYT community coming together and collaborating. I look forward to seeing the final version of this collab video, and look forward to the prospect of future collab videos.

Thanks for reading guys!

NZYT’er of the week (8)

fiddisproductions winsHey guys, Ryan (TheRyanLamont) here with this week’s ‘NZYT’er of the week’! This week Sam (Fiddisproductions) won with an outstanding lead by promoting himself on Facebook, much like previous winner Ricky (Rickyblah). This seems to be a sure fire way to winning ‘NZYT’er of the week’, so be sure to promote yourself if you hear you are nominated. Also, I will now be telling all nominees that they are nominated, the day before the poll goes up, so they can make plans to promote themselves and such. So now to the winner!

Sam is a 16-year-old from New Plymouth, who came to YouTube with the intention of making gaming videos. But one day Sam dabbled in the world of vlogging, and hasn’t looked back. Since then Sam has videos showcasing his voice acting abilities, guitar skills and videos of him completing ‘dastardly dares’. He cares very much about his 110 subscribers, telling me that the content he’ll make in the future depends on his “Subscribers interests and what they want to see. Because its’ really for them”. So what we what we can expect from this relatively new NZYT’er is still a mystery, but I look forward to seeing what the future holds.

So if you’re interested in video game videos, casual vlogs and the odd dare video or two, then be sure to check out Sam and his channel. I’m sure this new NZYT’er will create some great videos in the future, and will get along well with the NZYT community.

How did YOU find YouTube?

Hey guys Ryan (TheRyanlamont) here, with today’s wee post! I was looking through my NZYT subscriptions, like usual, and came across one of Richmond’s (rrichiee1990) videos called “How did you become addicted to YouTube?”, which got me thinking.

I thought this would be an interesting question to pose to the NZYT community. Not necessarily how you got ‘addicted’ but how did you come across that first person you subscribed to and watched regularly, and who did you discover after that? I personally found Levi Beamish (CorporalCadet) first, on the NZ YouTube homepage with his video “Dannie Girl.” and then found Dannie (ThatEnglishGirl111) through her video “A girl in Auckland” which was also featured on the New Zealand YouTube homepage. I subscribed to both channels and became a Levi Beamish fanboy for a while, before discovering the rest of the NZYT community at that time. I then picked up a camera and decided to vlog.

I remember my YouTube beginning quite vividly, still remembering the exact video titles, YouTubers and locations I found that led me to the NZYT Community. I wonder if any of my fellow NZYT’ers have such vivd recollections of their YouTube beginnings? So now I pose the question to you NZYT, how did you find the first YouTuber you regularly watched?
