Hey guys, Ryan (TheRyanLamont) here, and today is the blog’s one-month anniversary! Already this first month has shown us how alive and well the NZYT community is, with the blog managing to bring us all into a collective group – with more people joining everyday! Throughout this first month on the blog I’ve discovered many great kiwi video makers and have made many new friends. It’s been a really enriching experience writing this blog, and I’ve really enjoyed it so far!
During the first few days of the blog the weekly features such as ‘NZYT’er of the week’ and ‘NZYT video of the week’ were created, and have been maintained the entire month – with these weekly segments becoming increasingly popular. I enjoy writing these segments since it allows me to share with you a group of awesome NZYT’ers in the poll posts, and allows me to share excellent videos with you in the video of the week posts. I hope to bring in new regular features during 2011, and also add interviews with successful NZYT’ers and ‘Tips & Tricks’ posts, so that you can learn to become better at what you do.
This first month has also shown me how eager NZYT is to get back up on its feet. Although only a few have the motivation to actually produce videos and such, many more visit the blog looking for news, updates, new NZYT’ers and awesome videos. The blog’s daily view count fluctuates of course, but it has been consistently over 50 views a day for a few weeks, and regularly gets over 150 views. I hope to see this number sky-rocket in the coming months as the NZYT community builds and more people become aware of the blog.
All in all, this has been a great month and has really shown that with a little kick provided by me, NZYT can sort itself out and come together as one supportive and inclusive community. I look forward to the many days of writing ahead, and the many videos I will view in the future from awesome NZYT’ers. I also look forward to the community taking a bigger part in this blog – whether it be voting more, leaving more frequent comments on posts that turn into discussions, or simply submitting guest blogs to be published on the site. This has been a great month, but the months ahead will be even better!
Thanks for reading guys!
P.S. I’d like to thank all of you that voted yesterday – it was a much bigger turn out than expected (MUCH better than last week). We now have one very clear winner who you will see written about in the following days.
