Hey guys Ryan (TheRyanLamont) here with this week’s NZYT’er of the week! Now this week’s winner is Ricky Malcolm (Rickyblah), who won with an astonishing lead, with this week being the most highly voted on poll on the site! Why the sudden surge of voters, I have no idea – But you guys definitely wanted Ricky to win! So now for a bit of information on our winner. Ricky, a 21-year-old from New Plymouth, originally started his channel Rickyblah one year ago, to post travel diaries about his adventures around Malaysia.
His first few videos are really interesting, full of amazing sites as he videos his awesome journey around this foreign land. After these travel videos Ricky branched out into filming other interesting moments from his life including his Christmas day celebration and flying over New Plymouth with his mates; then there’s also music videos and various videos about his wee V 48 hours film festival project! So there is a real variety of awesome stuff on Ricky’s channel (so be sure to check it all out) Ricky was also interviewed on Fox40, an American news channel, about the 7.4 eathquake that struck Christchurch last year. He talks of how he felt the 7.4 earthquake from 300 miles away, and of the chaos and destruction that occurred in Christchurch that day. The full 7 minute long interviewed has been uploaded on his channel, serving as a wee time capsule for all those affected to look back on in the future.
Ricky’s most recent video is his video entry to a competition from Campbell Live, in which contestants had to make a tribute music video using a U2 song. This awesome entry, embedded below, then won and Ricky and his friend Cameron were flown to Auckland to receive their prize of 99 U2 concert tickets! You can see their segment on Campbell Live in which they receive their prize here. So that is Ricky’s most recent video (uploaded on November 11th 2010) So hopefully we’ll be seeing a lot more coming from his channel soon!
I hope you watch through all the embedded videos and go and visit and subscribe to Ricky’s channel, since he is a really talented member of the NZYT Community who is sure to do big things in 2011. I look forward to Ricky’s first video of the year and eagerly await the chance to feature another of his awesome videos on the site!
Thanks for reading guys!
